Laura Kasher, MD

Originally from Omaha, NE, Dr. Laura Kasher, MD, has called the Denver area home since 2007, when she moved to complete her residency at the University of Colorado. With over 15 years of experience practicing medicine, Dr. Kasher has worked in both rural and urban settings, gaining a comprehensive background in internal medicine. Her first position after residency was in Salida, Colorado, where she provided inpatient and outpatient care in a rural mountain community. Since then, she has worked as a hospitalist across almost all major hospital systems in Denver.

Now working as a locum tenens (traveling) physician, Dr. Kasher enjoys the flexibility to design her own schedule, taking assignments in locations ranging from Albuquerque, NM to several areas in Missouri and Colorado. She values the opportunity to serve a diverse range of communities, bringing her extensive experience to both rural and urban settings.

Dr. Kasher is also passionate about international volunteering. In the fall of 2023, she volunteered with an organization in Jordan that provides medical care to Syrian and Palestinian refugees. Additionally, she served as the medical volunteer for First Descents, an organization offering free adventure trips for young adults affected by cancer, during a whitewater kayaking trip in Medford, OR in August 2024.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Kasher spends her time studying Spanish and is planning to take a medical Spanish immersion course in Peru in fall 2025 to further enhance her skills. Her love for travel and service keeps her engaged in meaningful work both at home and abroad.

Dr. Kasher’s faithful companion, her dog Luna, often joins her on her travels, and will accompany her to Burlington as she helps build the hospital’s inpatient program in collaboration with TNT Staffing. She is excited to contribute to the community and looks forward to enhancing healthcare services in the area.
