Before You Receive Care

Authorization for your insurance company is required for most surgeries, inpatient stays and some outpatient services, such as an MRI, CT scan and certain cardiac procedures.

To ensure that your care will be covered by your insurance, the registration will check with your doctor’s office regarding authorization and with your insurance regarding deductible and coinsurance. If you would like prices for certain procedures or tests contact the Finance Office.

Working with your Insurance Company

If you have insurance:

We will bill your primary and secondary health insurance for you. You will receive a statement once your insurance has finalized their processing. This statement will reflect the balance due and should coordinate with the explanation of benefits letter you will receive form your insurance company. This may take up to six weeks or more.

If you do not have insurance:

You will receive a bill from Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital approximately two weeks after you receive care or are discharged. If you need assistance with your bill, a Financial Counselor will be available to assist you.
